80 percent plastic packaging

This increases the risk of many diseases. According to the report published in ‘Frontiers in Toxicology’, there is a risk of breast cancer in food packaging and plastic tableware. The more durable the packaging is, the more harmful it is to our health.

Products that contain these harmful chemicals include cardboard, shrink wrap or plastic wrap, and plastics. This study published in Frontiers of Toxicology states that 143 chemicals found in plastic and 89 chemicals found in cardboard are linked to the development of breast cancer.
PFA, Bisphenol A and Phthalates
The chemicals found in these food packaging items included PFA, bisphenols, and phthalates – all of which are already known to be dangerous by researchers. PFAs have been nicknamed “forever chemicals” because they don’t break down easily. First, they resist breaking down and hence, accumulate in the body over time.

“This study is important because it shows there is a huge opportunity to prevent exposure to chemicals that cause breast cancer,” said study co-author Jane Muncke, managing director of the Food Packaging Forum.
They said the possibility of cancer prevention by reducing hazardous chemicals in your daily life has not been explored and needs more attention.
